HI FELLOW DENIZENS, AND WELCOME BACK!
SO CANADA; DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT BILL C-11 IS AND WHAT IT MEANS?
For some bizarre reason, Canadians have decided to give a government institution, the CRTC ( Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) sweeping authority to decide for them what content they consume and how it’s presented to them. The CRTC’s mission is to “provide content that meets the needs and interests of Canadians” according to the Canadian government. Putting aside the clear arrogance and narcissism of that statement for the time being, who actually decides “what meets the needs” of Canadians? Where do they come from? What psychic superpowers do they wield to make such bold claims? No, what’s going to happen is that Bill C-11 would give the CRTC new and undefined powers, including the ability to impose financial penalties against people and businesses that violate certain provisions of the Broadcasting Act or its regulations. In other words, you’ll be punished if you “violate” whatever the CRTC deems a “violation” is. How many levels of corruption and abuse of power do you want in an istitution Canada? This is a buildout of the propganda machine and more evidence that Canada has become an Oligarchy. Oligarchies exist by means of growth and expansion of centralized and non-transparent institutions. The CRTC will wipe out free thinking indepentant content creators whos opinions differ from the state narrative but will favor institutional expansion. WAKE UP CANADA

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Community in Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie “The Beach” is a metaphor for us Canadians. The scene where the two members get mauled by sharks, their pain and cries were a buzz kill for the community so they decided to dig shallow graves and bury the victims alive, away from the party so that they could continue being in the drug-induced utopia they created. Well, that feels more and more like Canada. Are we this woefully compliant and self-deluded as a people?
A large number of us seem to be ok that the free market is suppressed. We’re also seemingly ok pretending to live in a democracy even though it’s clearly an oligarchy. Do we love our institutions so much that we’ll believe anything they tell us and give them the authority to do so?
I suppose so. After all, we believe inflation and taxes serve a real purpose as opposed to being extortion rackets and theft.
We also believe that Telus Bell and Rogers exist because they’re really good and competitive companies. We also believe mainstream media is real and Crave TV is actually HBO.
We’re passive and proud of it…. Or are we really?
I’m from Canada and I’m not any of the above so I assume there are many more out there like me… Well if there are, its time to show up and fight this Bill.
